Emergence Monarch Wilderness, California The Shrubby Cinquefoil, a member of the rose family, adds flowering life to long-deceased branches. Catalogued by Lewis and Clark on their 1806 expedition, the plant is now found throughout the northern hemisphere. The plant’s seeds are favored by small birds and mammals and its leaves were used regularly by Native Americans to make calcium-rich tea. |
