Owl and Aspen

Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

A Great Grey Owl returns a stare while perched on an Aspen tree. The owl has evolved to depend on two stealth adaptations when hunting for prey. Not only is the bird camouflaged with dull natural colors, it flies nearly silently with serrate-edged wings.
