Prairie in Bloom Pondera County, Montana A field of Sainfoin blooms for as far as the eye can see across the rural plains of central Montana. Sainfoin, a member of the pea family, is an ancient crop in Europe and Asia, but has only recently been grown for hay in the United States. As compared to alfalfa, Sainfoin is drought-resistant, retains its nutrients more efficiently and produces larger yields. |
