Sandstone Waves Arches National Park, Utah Wave-like patterns flow across a large sandstone rock, evidence of the erosive powers of water and wind. Before it was eroded, this dome was formed by the heaving of rock above a huge, unstable bed of salt that was deposited at the bottom of an ancient sea that existed 300 million ago. |
