Bighorn River

Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, Montana

The Bighorn River flows through Bighorn Canyon, a 1,000-foot-deep gorge that straddles the border of Wyoming and Montana.  The river travels 460 miles from the Wind River Range before reaching the Yellowstone River.  This part of the 55-mile long canyon is favored by raptors, who not only nest on its cliffs, but these high points to better spot and catch prey.
