Bristlecone Pine White Mountains, California A Great Basin Bristlecone Pine clings to a barren slope in the 11,000 foot White Mountains in eastern California. Like this stand in the Inyo National Forest, the Bristlecone grows in isolated areas in three states, California, Utah and Nevada. Bristlecone pines live for thousands of years, making them the oldest living organism on earth. |
