Joshua Tree

Inyo Mountains, California

A lone Joshua tree grows in the high deserts above Death Valley National Park. Native to the southwestern United States, the tree survives the incredibly harsh environment by having a shallow root system and limited competition from other Joshua trees, which naturally space themselves from each other by every few hundred feet.
