Dakota Badland

Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota

Sagebrush is common across the arid western states, but has been unable to spread farther east than the western Dakotas.  This sagebrush grows at the easternmost extent of its range, which is highly diverse with anywhere from badlands to desert to alpine meadows.
