Absaroka Wilderness, Wyoming

An adult mule deer pauses while feeding in a meadow that is accented by waves of long, dead grass. Mule deer do not run, but instead move quickly with bounding leaps where all feet leave and land on the ground at the same time. When full grown, the mule deer can be over six feet long and weigh up to 300 pounds.
