On the Rocks

Glacier National Park, Montana

A Yellow-bellied Marmot peeks from behind a rock pile. Found at high elevations throughout the western United States and southwestern Canada, it inhabits areas that are abundant with meadows and rocks, but with few trees. Full-grown Yellow-bellied Marmots typically weigh up to 11 pounds and may live for 15 years.
