Lift Off

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

A bald eagle leaves its perch to fish the Madison River of northwest Wyoming. The perch provides the eagle with perfect visibility to the Madison River, a favored fishing spot for bald eagles in the area. Eagles prefer habitats of old-growth coniferous or hardwood trees not only for perching, but also for roosting and nesting.
