Taking a Break

Bonita Springs, Florida

An Eastern Lubber Grasshopper rests after devouring a good portion of a leaf. The grasshopper can grow up to 3 inches long and has vivid coloration that serves as a warning of toxicity to potential predators. The grasshopper’s wings do not enable flight, but rather help with the insect’s ability to jump long distances.
